“Commissioning Technician”

The Suppression System Incorporated, SSI, Commissioning Technician will program, test, and certify various Fire Suppression Systems and equipment. The ideal candidate is a detailed, analytical problem-solver who can make decisions solely, responsively and proficiently on matters related to providing customers a fully-functioning fire protection system.

Position Summary

  • Write the program for all intelligent systems including both fire suppression and fire alarm.
  • Install panel boards, transformers, and batteries. Make all terminations at the control panel and power supplies.
  • Troubleshoot wiring issues and defective modules in the field.
  • Perform full functional testing for all control panels including conventional and intelligent control panels.
  • Perform room integrity assessment and testing.
  • Perform puff and pressure testing.
  • Attend project commissioning meetings.
  • Complete as-built drawings and all required documentation to project manager at project completion.
  • Ability to perform final testing with (AHJ’S) Authority Having Jurisdiction.
  • Provide technical support to Service, Construction, Salesmen, Engineering and Project Managers.
  • Maintain a professional appearance, attitude and relationship with customers and employees at all times.
  • Keep assigned company vehicle clean and well maintained

Required:

  • High School Diploma or a General Educational Development Diploma (GED).
  • Two years of technical training and three – four years field troubleshooting experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of various Fire Suppression and Fire Alarm systems.
  • Excellent communication skills, organizational, and time management skills
  • Must be able to read and understand isometric/electrical drawings.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Products.
  • Ability to pass required pre-employment drug-screening, background check and satisfactory driving history.

Preferred:  

  • Two to four-year degree in a related technical field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • NICET Certification in Special Hazard Systems, Fire Alarm Systems.

“Electronic System Sales Representative”

The Suppression System Incorporated, SSI, Electronic System Sales Representative is responsible for generating sales of Emergency Radio Communications Enhancement Systems (ERCES), which will primarily include bi-directional amplifier (BDA) systems. Assumes responsibility for improving sales within territory by developing relationships with end users, electrical contractors, general contractors, and property management companies. This is a perfect opportunity for a motivated and driven individual with low voltage RF system experience and has an interest in making a successful career in sales.

Position Summary:

  • Generate new business and nurture existing customer relationships.
  • Establish contact with prospects and potential buyers by cold calling, scheduling sales calls, following up on internal leads, and execute outlined marketing strategies.
  • Develop sales plan, monitor forecasts, plan and schedule sales calls, conduct prospect analysis, and track customer orders.
  • Review construction project plans, requirements, drawings, and specifications.
  • Prepare cost estimates for bi-directional amplification systems (BDA) systems.
  • Write proposals, issue quotations and follow-up on offers in a timely manner by phone or personal visit.
  • Work with customers to define their needs and develop value-engineering solutions to solve them.
  • Submit all required sales reports, data, expenses, and correspondence in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Prepare sales presentations to support products and distribution at potential clients.
  • Maintain an understanding of National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Underwriters Laboratories (UL), Factory Mutual (FM), and local Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) codes and requirements as they apply to fire protection and life safety.
  • Develop project specifications to aid consulting engineers. Consult with engineering firms in an effort to promote usage of products in upcoming projects.
  • Conduct coordination with Design and Operations Department to ensure proper hand-off of job information.
  • Develop and maintain an active proposal backlog that supports the established sales plan.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all information processed.

Critical Skills:

  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Well-developed active listening, critical thinking and deductive reasoning skills.
  • Advanced written, verbal, presentation and interpersonal communication skills.

Job Qualifications:

  • Experience in business-to-business sales.
  • High School diploma or GED, College Degree a plus.
  • Experience in other low voltage systems and radio frequency systems a plus.
  • Knowledge of NFPA and IFC.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Pass a pre-employment drug test, as well as background and reference checks.

“Explosion Protection Service Technician”

The Suppression System Incorporated, SSI, Explosion Protection Service Technician will inspect, test and repair various Explosion Protection Systems and equipment per NFPA guidelines. The ideal candidate is a detailed, analytical problem-solver who is motivated, hardworking and has a high aptitude for critical thinking tasks.

Position Summary

  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on a variety of Explosion Protection systems.
  • Performs routine technical inspections and troubleshoot system problems with basic hand tools and troubleshooting equipment.
  • Daily service duties will include working at different heights by implementing ladders and man lifts as well as working indoors and outdoors.
  • Program and configure Explosion Protection Control Panels.
  • Perform system rebuilds at end user facilities.
  • Provide complete and accurate service reports for each piece of equipment serviced, with condition of equipment and any recommendations for repairs required.
  • Communicate with manufacturer’s technical support team to diagnose system problems.
  • Respond to service requests in a timely fashion.
  • Provide complete monthly counts of assigned inventory.
  • Provide complete monthly expense reports.
  • Evaluate customer sites for additional equipment and services SSI can offer.
  • Cover a 24/7 on-call week that is rotated among all service technicians throughout the year.
  • Maintain a professional appearance, attitude and relationship with customers and employees at all times.
  • Keep assigned company vehicle clean, well maintained, and stocked with appropriate inventory levels.
  • Overnight Travel as required.

Required:

  • High School Diploma or a General Educational Development Diploma (GED)
  • Comfortable with heights and working on ladders and man lifts
  • Excellent Communication skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Provide complete and accurate Inspection Reports for each piece of equipment serviced, with condition of equipment and any recommendations for repairs required

  • Program Fire Alarm and Fire Suppression Control Panels
  • Provide Leads for service or new construction
  • Cover a 24/7 on-call week that is rotated among all service technicians throughout the year

  • Keep assigned company vehicle clean and well maintained

Required

  • High School Diploma or a General Educational Development Diploma (GED).
  • Two years of technical training, preferably in fire protection.
  • Excellent communication skills needed to accurately describe problems and communicate with customers.
  • Ability to lift up to 100 pounds.
  • Ability to pass required pre-employment drug-screening, background check and satisfactory driving history.

Preferred

  • Associates degree in a related technical field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
